Deathtrip Interview at Southport Metal Fest

Ok!!!

We are back!!! We have had a bit of a break on this side of things so its good to look back at SMF2013.

I have to be honest I was amazed at the amount of support for the festival this year and it has convinced me that there is a need for this sort of event in the town.

We will be back in 2014.....Bands wanting to apply can now do so by joining the official facebook group and introducing yourselves. https://www.facebook.com/groups/402132949835001/

In the meantime I will be reminiscing by sharing some interviews we carried out over the weekend. Here's the absolutely blistering Deathtrip

Speak to ya soon......

Bury the Fallen worried about STD's

Theres a storm brewing and I dont mean that the curry that settles in my stomach this morning wants to take revenge, Its not long at all for SMF2013 so I think its time to introduce Bury the Fallen.

These lads are back and ready to show southport why SMF2013 is the hottest ticket in town.

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
We are Bury The Fallen; Sean Duffy - Guitars & Screamed Vocals, Ben Middlehurst - Guitars, Jacob Walsh - Bass, Sam Roj - Drums & Clean Vocals

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
We started as a few mates having a laugh in high school as part of a music project about 5 years ago - we gigged for around a year and reformed with the final line-up around 2 years back

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?
A range of different influences & musical styles blend together to create a fusion of metal, rock, groove and melody that we feel is unique to the world of music - so we find it pretty hard to confine ourselves to a single genre/sub-genre!

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
A vast spectrum ranging from In Flames, Soilwork & Killswitch Engage, to Alter Bridge, Kiss, Gary Moore & Steel Panther - a little bit of everything good!

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
Our Messages EP mainly hits on the topic of the human mind, and the range of different feelings and emotions of a man left in isolation with nothing but his own thoughts and memories, while our newer songs lyrically focus more on a more specific topic - our take on the variety of reactions and responses that would be observed during the end of the world; love, fear, religion, loss, and survival, among others - we like to hit on something that's a bit different and hopefully thought-provoking!

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN? Bit of disagreement on this one, but probably either one of our newest songs "Homeward" or maybe even another one we have in the works to be released very soon!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
We'd probably have to go for our closest hybrid-genre we can think of mashed into one word, so... MelodicGrooveMetal!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?
As a band our greatest achievement so far has probably been recording our debut EP Messages - the reception from it has been insane and we had an awesome time in studio

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
Hopefully more shows, more fans, more songs... Maybe even a full-length album on the horizon!

WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC. We can be found at www.facebook.com/BuryTF, and also www.reverbnation.com/BuryTF where 2 tracks from our EP can be found, EPs and shirts available at www.BuryTF.bigcartel.com

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
The Liverpool metal scene has produced a load of great bands lately, and gigs are always a good laugh and a great show - they just need more people about to enjoy them!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
Bigger events with a mix of big names and younger bands, like the Metal Fest, are always a plus and a good way to bring tonnes of different fans together

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?
Definitely, they seem to gather a huge following and go down great!

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
We reckon that the best thing a band can do is to play the music they love, regardless of whether it's deemed as being 'unoriginal' or not, but it's always great seeing bands that bring something different to the table, and we like to think we do just that WHAT IS THE

BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND? STD's,
mate! They suck!

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
For me (Duffy) supporting In Flames or Soilwork would be my perfect show - but really any of the bands we take influence from would be awesome to support

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
Gandalf, as he looks very similar to our drummer, Roj- and he's awesome!

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
Cause there is a very high chance that The Roj will get his nips out on stage. And that would be a sight noone would want to miss.

Fear Hate Destroy Added to SMF2013

So, its the 1st of May........and we are still alive wahaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!
Its countdown to the Festival time and as its the 1st of the Month, 1st day of the countdown why not introduce a festival 1st?

Fear Hate Destroy are already making waves on various metal webzines and featured on compilation CD's  which for a band that has only been together a few months is pretty damn good going , FHD have been in preparation and will be allowing you guys to see this band live first!!!!!

As usual we caught up with the lads to find out more........

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
We are Fear Hate Destroy, a 5 piece metal band from preston. We have Joel Ayre on guitar and vocals, Bob Hope on vocals too. On guitars we also have Martin Bragg. On bass duties is Jared Dunne and on drums we've got Adam Kniveton.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
We've been together as a full band for a matter of mere months currently. The band started out as a project by Joel which was mainly based around writing in his studio and just leaving the material to one side. That was in 2010. Eventually the time came about to get a band together to get out and start performing some of this material and developing new material too, and this Fear Hate Destroy was born!

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?
Our general disregard for sticking to a specific genre of metal and our eager willingness to explore into heavier sound with stampeding rhythmic intent, our aggressive but conscious lyrics conveyed in power raps, rhyming, and with death metal vocal dirges.

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
Fear Factory, Hacktivist, Strapping Young Lad, TesseracT, Meshuggah, Behemoth... Aggressive conscious rap as well as Underground freestyle hiphop.. Loads of stuff!

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
We try and base our lyrical content around things that piss us off. This tends to include the 'government' or the 'system'. War, vanity, ignorance, organised religion and overall general oppression of the free thinking mind.

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
We've all got different opinions but the one we managed to settle on is Rise of the Forgotten, a track about social uprising and change within the face of austerity.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Nerdy. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR? Coming together for our first rehearsal after months upon months of trying to find the right lineup. Everything just clicked into place, like clockwork!

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
Having released our debut EP on the 11th April, were writing new material for our next release now. Meanwhile we want to be gigging up and down the UK and showing the scene exactly what were made of!

WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC.

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
The scene in Preston has been declining for years now. However, recently there's been a select few promoters working tirelessly to try and revive it. It's working.. But slowly.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
We need venues and fans to be more enthusiastic as a whole about live music. We need people to open their minds to a bigger umbrella of genres. We need them to get up off the sofa, stop watching TV and go check out some excellent local talent.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?
These events are the backbone of the UK unsigned scene. It's events like this that provide UK unsigned talent with the opportunity to showcase themselves to a crowd that they might not normally play to. Which is important! These kind of events are the best way of spurring on local music.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
I think it's a bi-polar split. A lot of people are boarding the bandwagon and riding it down until the next trend shift. But thankfully there's also a lot of bands pushing some major boundaries right now. That's what needs to happen. Bands in metal should be constantly trying to hit new extremes and doing things that haven't been done.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Not being able to do this for the rest of our life.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE? Currently, it would be Fear Factory. Out of all the bands we've been compared to they seem to be the most common. And we're all big fans!

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
We've argued this for hours now, but we've come to a conclusion. It would have to be Darth Vader simply because Gandalf would only let shit go down at the very last minute. By which point middle earth would have probably been death starred anyway!

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
Well, this is going to be our first gig as a full band. We've been working really hard to make sure it's an awesome show for you guys. We've got a lot of interesting stuff going on in our music and it sounds even better live! We can't wait to show YOU!

Seventh Shade join Southport Metal Fest

Seventh Shade are about to release there new EP and offer an exclusive to SMF2013 with a new addition on guitar and a new set tunes that will be bursting at the seams with rich melody and hard grooves. If you haven't caught Seventh Shade before you are in for a treat.

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE

We are Seventh Shade from merseyside. The band consists of 4 members,

John Okeffe - Lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Paul Chadwich - Backing vocals and Bass guitar
John Foster - Lead Guitar
Simon Lynskey - Drums and percussion.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?

Seventh Shade have been writing and playing music together since may 2010.
The band started with John Okeffe and Simon who have played in other bands in the past along with Paul,
Paul left our last band to study at university. IN that time seventh Shade was born with two previous members
who left the band in the middle of 2012. When Paul completed university he was drafted back in the band. Foster has been a
very close friend to us all as he plays in seventh shade's sister band PAY FOR YOUR SINS who are an epic metal band. When our previous
Lead guitarist left we needed someone to jump in and Foster was there to help us, he still in the band and not looked back,
which is good for us cause he is amazing.

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?

Its hard to say as there is so many bands out there, we try and make it hard for people to forget us when they watch us live.
We are always trying to improve our set and how we perform live.

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?

Breaking Benjamin August burns Red
Inme Nickleback
Trust company Deaf Havana
John Mayer Slipknot
AX7 Stone sour
Parkway drive
Killswitch engage AND TONES MORE WHAT I CANT THINK OF

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?

JOHN OKEFFE'S LOVE LIFE

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?

I CANT SPEAK FOR THE REST OF THE LADS BUT MINE (SIMON) HAS GOT TO BE DEAR FATHER.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

tight.. :s

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR? Hearing our music being played on dune FM WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS? We are currently in the studio recording our debute album which we are hopeing to release somtime this year. Also we are going to be going on a mini tour and playing as many shows as we can, so we can meet as many new people and hope they follow and support us. WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC. Facebook.com/seventhshade Soundcloud.co./seventhshade we have our first single "Your eyes are mine" available on Itunes for 79p(Bargain). We hope to have a youtube channel up soon aswell. HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT? Its ok at the momet but there is a lot of room for improvement, the scene seemes to be the same people playing to each other over again but St.helens should hopefully get better. WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT? I think if there was a couple of good venues in the town centre the scene would thrive but due to the current climate its hard for that to happen. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE? Events such as these are needed for live music to continue and for new acts to be reconised. More events are needed so we can play them all ;) DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE? I think there is a lot of copy cats in metal music and some are unwilling to try and push metal, but saying that there are just as many bands are doing the oposite and pushing the genre which is amazing. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND? Not being able to play Music together. IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE? Breaking Benjamin WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER? vader every time..... he is a bad ass mofo. FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY? We put on a solid perfomance everytime and we really appriciate anyone that takes time out of there day for watch or listen to us it means alot.

Vandal Hearts Join the North West Metal Fest

Vandal Hearts are a female fronted hard rock/metal band from Lancaster in the UK. Our band interests include drinking and feeding the pony. We like massive catchy choruses, heavy riffs, guitar harmonies, solos, counterpoint basslines and thoughtful drumming. By happy coincidence, these are the components of pretty much all our songs.

Pleased to meet you Vandal Hearts..............................Hang on a min did you say feed the pony????

Wow, ok guys welcome to SMF2013, Ive been looking to check these guys out for a while and I'm loving the EP which is available FREE via bandcamp http://vandalhearts.bandcamp.com/

Here's a few questions for you....

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
Vandal Hearts! Steph - Vox, Kyle - Guitar, Harry - Guitar, Craig - Bass, - Allan - Drums HOW LONG

HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START? Just over a year! Craig and Kyle were playing in something we'd loosely describe as a band, Steph was in a pop-punk band, both bands ended so we decided to start a more musically serious project. Allan was added later, having already slayed the local scene in The Shipman Project and Promethium. Harry was (is) sleeping with Steph but turned out to be a pretty sound guitarist anyway, which was lucky.

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST? Mixing a lot of disparate influences into fairly standard song structures. Harmonised riffs, solos, breakdowns, clean passages, catchy melodies, thrash riffs, groove riffs, proggy moments, guitar harmonies, soaring female clean vocals, harsh vocals.... We like to do a bit of everything, but still keep it coherent.

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY? Pretty much everything. From Clutch to Killswitch Engage, Coheed and Cambria, In Flames, CKY, Bring Me The Horizon, Dir En Grey, Faith No More.... Anything with good riffs and big vocal hooks is pretty much an influence. I think the only band all five of us actually like is Thrice.

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT? Mostly just abstract stuff we think is interesting or funny, which we then write about in metaphor from unusual perspectives. We don't really have anything political or personal to say, we just like playing music.

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN? We have a song with the working title of 'The Boner Police' that the bass player wrote, which we all love. I think the real name is 'Hell and Back'. We write the music first under working titles then add lyrics and change the titles. Except we tend to forget the actual titles. This is largely why we have a song called 'Hell Monkeys'.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Surprousing. (To be 'surproused'; to find oneself surprised by feeling arousal towards something one previously did not know existed or had never really thought about.)

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT/GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR? Winning a Battle of the Bands as our fifth gig was pretty good achievement. Best moments would be meeting and playing with a lot of amazing bands like The Sun Explodes, Fighting Bears, Fort Worth, and many many others I'm missing off here. The best part of being in a band for us is by far playing shows with awesome bands we get along with, having a laugh and just enjoying an awesome show atmosphere. We're not the cool, collected, reserved band, we're here to have a blast and make sure the audience do too. When we meet other people like that and get to put on a show with them, it's the greatest thing in the world.

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS? Got a new EP coming out April, after that, write a bunch more songs and record another EP. Get some more shows further afield, hopefully break into the Manchester scene. Try and do a photoshoot where more than five of the two hundred or so photos taken are actually usable, rather than laughing hysterically and ruining them all. We need to work on our serious metal faces.

WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC. Facebook! Just search 'Vandal Hearts', get distracted by all the pages for the videogame we stole the name off, then eventually find us and check it out! There should be a pretty sweet EP up on there as of April '13....

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT? It's actually gotten really really good recently! Seems like around the time we formed a number of really good bands were either getting together or starting to find their sound, now there's an excellent scene in Lancaster that's got pretty much everything from death metal to post-hardcore covered.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT? Just keep building on it. There are new bands coming through who are maybe a little sketchy or unoriginal, but the fact that they've now got a decent scene to play in means a lot of them really have a chance to find their sound and what they're about, and that's what all scenes need. Leading by example, we were pretty terrible when we started, we're almost listenable now.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE - WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE? Unsigned festivals are excellent, there needs to be way more of these things all over the country! With stuff like Kickstarter funded bands and social media, labels are much less of a necessity, it's great that some really good bands that labels might not have taken a shot on have a chance to really get themselves out there and get the backing they need.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDARIES IN METAL AS A GENRE? Oh christ yes. You can walk into a metalcore gig and know everything the band will do before they even tune up the guitars. Thrash, power metal, death metal... Bands are picking up these genres and regurgitating and rewriting songs that are already genre defining. Bands like Dir En Grey who take influence from pretty much every area of metal, fuse it all, and then push it forward, are way too few and far between. There are a few amazing unsigned bands like The Sun Explodes doing this kind of genre blurring, but not nearly enough!

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND? I don't think we have any massive worries. We do what we do for fun, first and foremost. As long as we enjoy it, we're not massively worried about audiences getting it. We'll keep doing it for as long as it's fun.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE? Every member of the band would give you a different answer. In general, probably Killswitch Engage, because they seem like a pretty hilarious bunch of guys. Coheed and Cambria would also be legenary.

WHO WOULD WIN - GANDALF OR DARTH VADER? Gandalf. That's not a beard you can beat.

FINALLY - WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY? Because we're energetic as balls, musically tight, and there to have a fun. What more do you want in a live show?

Oceanis bringing the sea back Southport Shores

Oceanis will be hitting the stage on Saturday 25th May at Southport Metal Fest and with a calendar booking up fast, we ask an important question. Who is harder Gandolf or Vader?

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
 Oceanis
Joe Maryanji - vocals
Stu Donachie - Guitars & backing vocals
Phil Dyer - Guitars Craig Miles -
Bass Dave Waite - Drums

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
This current line up has been together since 2011 but Dave & Stu have been jamming together for years. They finally got settled in 2010 with the addition of Craig, Joe and JP. Other than a guitarist change (Phil for JP) we've been going strong since then.

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?
We try not to be as straight forward as most metal bands. We put hours, weeks in fact, into writing songs. We never settle on a song for the sake of it. Unless it gets to a point where we feel it can't be improved, then its not finished.

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
Vast and varied to be honest. Individually we all listen to different genres of metal from death and thrash to progressive. Bands like Gojira, Textures, Opeth, Lamb of God and Deftones are big influences on us.

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
A post apocalyptic view of the world!

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
We all have different opinions on that one, it'd be far too difficult to pin it to one for everyone in the band.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Fussy!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR? Probably being asked to step in as a last minute substitute to fill a gap in the Liverpool Tattoo convention battle of the bands and going onto win it! Supporting Silent Screams and Malefice was also pretty cool.

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS? WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC.
Next for us is a busy April and May and trying our best to win the Metal to the Masses battle of the bands so we can play Bloodstock. We have a couple of other gigs lined up as well, obviously the Southport metal Festival, Out of the Ashes festival and Khaos Fest. We're also booked into the studio to start recording our 2nd EP as well writing lots of new material. Our other EP is available on www.soundcloud.com/oceanisuk and we can be followed on www.facebook.com/oceanisuk and www.youtube.com/ukoceanis

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
Its ok. There's so many metal bands in Liverpool/Merseyside but bands still end up doing show after show together. It'd be nice to mix it up a bit. Promoters from different cities should get together and sort gig swaps and not be fearful of putting an out of town band on. It's difficult to get a following in a different city if nobody is prepared to take a punt on you. Especially if you're a band that is best appreciated live.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
Get together with promoters from different cities, say 4 cities, a band from each and then you all play each others city. Like a mini tour.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE? We would like to see more metal gigs in decent venues of course. Metal is a genre appreciated by so many people. We'd love to see more of the bigger, more popular signed metal bands come through Liverpool and give the unsigned lot a go at supporting.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDARIES IN METAL AS A GENRE?
The biggest problem with metal music is the constant need to label everything and pigeon hole it into its specific sub genre so one sub genres fans can try and out do another sub genres fan. Too many unsigned bands will write music and adopt images to fit into these sub genres and then change themselves when the genre changes or disappears. Boundaries are there to be pushed. Don't be a sheep, be a shepherd, because it only takes one boundary to be pushed to create something new.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Not getting out of Liverpool. As much as we love playing our hometown and we're grateful to places like the Lomax and the zanzibar, we need to branch out. More people need to hear our noise and unless promoters from elsewhere are willing to take a chance on us then its going to get stale.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Opening up for Opeth, Textures, Gojira, Tesseract, Chimaira, Slayer & Cannibal Corpse would probably be the most epic thing we could ever do and it would appease every member of Oceanis as well! Haha! WHO

WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
Tough question. Probably the toughest you've asked, but I'd probably have to say Gandalf. That dude has been through some serious shit and has probably seen it all. As cool as Vader is, it has to be Gandalf. However Batman would twat both of them.

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
Because we're heavy, melodic, explosive and calming all at the same time!

The Wolves Remain join SMF2013!!!

There's a couple of new bands I'm really looking forward to seeing this year and this one of them, The Wolves Remain are currently promoting their newest EP and the track below " Unworthy" .

TWR are already on the way to big things and SMF could be chance to catch the lads on a smaller stage, expect big rhythmic chunks and dark atmospheres here.
Welcome to the show guys \m/

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
We’ve actually not been a full band for that long at all, Jack and our former guitarist Jake decided that they wanted to start a metal band so they started jamming after school and started writing their own songs! They then asked Chris to do vocals, they got in contact with me through a friend and asked me to play bass! Our new line up is still yet to be announced!

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?Our riffs! WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
I’d say the bands that we all listen to and ook up to, bands like Of Mice & Men, Memphis May Fire, Parkway Drive etc. They’re such inspirational people, the way they are with fans, their stage presence and the way they are as people in general is amazing! WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?Every song we write tends to have a different meaning, of course our new single Unworthy is about not feeling good enough. Our lyrics mean something to every one of us personally, it’s the reason we’re so passionate about the music!

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
Definitely our most recent single Unworthy!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?Heavy. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?Supporting Odessa at Satans Hollow was definitely a big one for us, it was such an awesome opportunity for us to play with the bands we got to! Also seeing people singing along to our songs on barrier is a great achievement in my opinion, it make you realize that people are just as passionate about the music as you are!

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
We’re currently in practice with our potential new line up after losing a few members recently, we’re writing a brand new EP for you guys to listen to and we’re going to be gigging a lot around the north west! Expect more bounce, heavier breakdowns and some very catchy chorus’!

WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC.You can keep up to date with us on our Facebook page here; http://www.facebook.com/thewolvesremain
You can check out our most recent single Unworthy on our youtube channel here; http://www.youtube.com/thewolvesremain

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
It’s pretty good at the moment, there’s definitely more people turning up at shows wanting to have a good time!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
More venues are needed! Apart from that just more local shows to give bands a chance to get their name out there!

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?
We’d love to see and be part of more events like this! It’s an amazing opportunity for local talent to show themselves off! Its also awesome being able to support each other, even if it is watching each others set, it’s showing your support in some way!

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
Bands are definitely wary to push the boundaries of their genre in fear that people will consider it too different and therefore dislike it, but at the end of the day if you’re comfortable with the sound of your band then that’s all that matters!

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Not being able to pursue our dreams.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
For me it would have to be Of Mice & Men, their shows are absolutely mental, it’d be an honour!

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
Definitely Gandalf.

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
We go fucking hard on stage, we’re heavy and we love having a good time, you won’t be disappointed if you come and see us

Driven Overboard are ready to Rock \m/

The idea of this years fest is not only to showcase UK acts but showcase local talent as well,

Driven Overboard have set themselves a goal of not chaining themselves to local scene but to push out and reach a wider audience across the UK, with a number of key UK shows planned for the summer and decent support slots, Driven Overboard are fast becoming a wanted commodity in venues up and down the land.

The lads have been kind enough to join us on SMF this year as they promote their latest album "The french is what will make it better." and I urge people to come and check them out before they move on to bigger and better things.

Entropy Inc announced for SMF2013

And we are back,...........Ive been looking forward to announcing these chaps for a while so let me introduce Entropy Inc.

The lads have been hidden away recently to finish up their forthcoming album which will be ready just before Southport Metal Fest so its looking like we will be treated with a refreshed set and complete show from the Entropy Inc chaps.

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?

Well, we've been known as 'Entropy' for the last 3 years now but have decided to change that slightly to 'Entropy Inc.' There's a few reasons for this, but the fact that there are bands called Entropy everywhere has one thing to do with it....

Daz Cooper - Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocal
Rob Boyd - Drums
Ian McCormack - Bass & Backing Vocal
John Hunter - Lead Guitar

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?

Daz & Rob have been playing music together since 1996, forming the original band in that year, with the original lead guitarist, Karl Rigby. Using that as a start point, the band formed 17 years ago. We basically started like most other bands: learnt a load of Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer tunes and thrashed it out in the school music rooms. Things progressed from there really!.... Fun times!

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?

It's probably the 'style' of Thrash Metal that we play that differentiates us from the other thrash outfits out there! Thrash is a genre of metal with so many levels and developing the way we have has unconsciously allowed us to not be pigeon holed into any particular sub-genre. Of course, our music is a construct of our collective musical palettes and when that happens, we feel that at times we create something unique, not in the sense that we're re-inventing the wheel, but it's certainly a fresh take on whats been done before!

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?

Daz - Queen, were the first heavy band I was ever into, as a young kid, and I'm still a big fan to this day. The song structuring and guitar harmonies, are something I still try to utilise in our music when I'm developing riffs or songs! In terms of metal, it was Metallica that really got me wanting to play heavy music, the first Metallica album I heard was Kill em All.... Blew me away! Naturally, I added other bands to those influences, and I think Megadeth & Pantera, would be the most critical of the rest...

Rob - My current playlist includes Gojira, Tesseract, Machine Head, Sylosis, In Flames, Coheed & Cambria and a lot of music that isn't too heavy. My biggest influence has been Metallica.

John – Changing all the time, currently Guthrie Govan, Paul Gilbert, Petrucci, Devin, etc. I’ve just discovered Black Dahlia Murder…the list is endless. There’s so much good music about at the moment, it’s ace.

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?

Daz - Lyrically, I've always felt most creative writing about the realities of life. Things about which I have my own personal opinion, that move me emotionally and make me put pen to paper. I don't think of myself as a natural lyricist, it takes me time to get my message across (my wife would agree). I'd say out of all the lyrics I've written I’m most proud of ‘Weapons For War’. I wrote those lyrics the night after I heard little Rhys Jones was killed.... The lyrics give my feelings on the current state of a minority of our youth......

Other than that, war is a prevalent subject. It’s something on which I have strong opinions; The direction of politics potentially creating dictatorships. It's not all serious though; ‘ Overload’, is essentially a description of the way I felt when I saw Metallica in 99' for the first time....

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?

Daz - ‘Weapons For War’

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Infectious..... The music that is, not the individuals :)

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?

Getting to the M2TM Final was a major achievement for the band. We lost out at the final hurdle to Scare Tactics; no shame there.

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?

We're currently in the studio, recording the first ‘Entropy Inc’ album. I'd say we're about 50% done so far! It's been challenging and things have got in the way on occasion, but we still hope that it will be available for a May 2013 release.

Due to the recording commitments, we took a brief hiatus from gigging but we're committed to gigs in May with the first over with our friends at The Alma Inn in Bolton for Metal Massacre 2013.... That'll be riot! After that, we're back to the awesome Lomax in Liverpool for Mosh Against Cancer, lots of top bands on there, that's gonna be tons of fun. Then it's on to Southport Metal Fest..... Ohhhhh Yeeeeaahhh!

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?

It's up and down if we're honest! We understand to a degree, there's a level of separation between some bands which is never nice to see and that has a knock on effect with the attendees. We've always tried to be a welcoming band, always get on well with other bands at gigs. We support where we can, as do most really! Money is always going to be a big issue with coming to gigs, especially when sometimes they can run quite late. Any fans wanting to get that last train may bail out and miss maybe the last 1 or 2.....

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
We’ve discussed this often with other bands: Let's start by increasing co-operation between promoters; no more multiple metal nights on same nights directly competing with each other. Less bands on a night means longer sets and this means bands won't overrun and the schedule will be kept. Keep it simple, maybe 3 bands with decent sets (and soundchecks!). How about paying the bands (no matter how little, even a few beers or petrol) just some acknowledgement of the huge effort involved in getting a band working. In return, bands need to commit more: to be punctual and professional. No more ‘no shows’ or half shows without fair notice or fair reason. Let's get some respect and etiquette. Manners cost nothing :D Stick to your set times, respect borrowed gear (or get some) and don't be a dick. As bands, we have to acknowledge our responsibility to each other, it's not just about the individual, it's about the collective. We've seen ‘those’ bands in all the gigs we've done, and you can tell the ones who want the local scene to thrive, they'll be there ready to rock with some support behind them. Then there are the bands that don't give a shit, these are generally the ones that show up with no support, no respect, and on occasions that we've seen, no gear....... Respect between each other, and working for each other, is key, but respect is earned at the end of the day! If the local fans, of all bands, see everyone working together, the energy and atmosphere will encourage the scene to thrive! We need to improve our links to other towns and cities, each local scene helping the next.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?

Most definitely! This is exactly what we mean when we say bands working for each other. Steve Simpson takes an almost ‘ambassador’ type role and these kind of things always have the feeling of an 'unsigned Download Festival' or 'Bloodstock'. We really enjoy taking part and are always happy to be included in them!

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?

It's a difficult thing to comment on but we do feel like we're putting a modern spin in our music and I think that can be enough. Bands can try too hard sometimes, try too hard to be different, too hard to be technical, too hard to be the individual, and that can be dangerous. It can become noise that no one understands or relates to..... Be who YOU want to be, not what you THINK you should be! When I got into metal, it was because I enjoyed what I was listening to, I related to it, Music doesn't have to be original to achieve that!

John – I don’t see why we have to push boundaries in metal; I don’t really see any boundaries to push. Just play the music you like and forget about boundaries. Why is there such an insistence to define and limit music? There’s loads of ace musicians and music about; so much great inspiration and originality. I love it.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?

The way we work and the way we operate means that we don’t worry about much. That in no way means we're trying to act cocky. At the end of the day, we're an unsigned thrash metal band making some music, enjoying playing it and going out on the road to kick ass when we can. We have goals and we're developing one of those goals as we speak with the album. Once it's finished and we all look at each other and think, 'we've done it, right there, this kicks ass', then we will feel immensely proud and that’s all that matters. The achievement is in the music, not the sale, or 'making it'..... We're too old to make it now anyway, ha!

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?

Daz - Metallica

Rob - Metallica, Definitley.

John – I have no idea, there’s too many to mention!

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?

Daz - Oooooo, tough one there. It's wizardry versus the force......... I think Gandalf takes it on points.....

Rob - Darth Vader. He's a bad-ass!

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?

We have something genuine to offer, something raw and energetic and that only truly gets projected in our live performance. We can laugh at ourselves, we don't take ourselves too seriously and we try our best to get the crowd involved.... It's worked so far!

Catch Bludvera at SMF2013 in May

Bludvera are absolutely blinding, great live show and since I had the pleasure of working with the lads around 4 years ago they have grown into a powerful unit that have gathered quite a following right across the UK, the band have a number of high profile achievements under their belt including  Bloodstock, supporting Evile, Festival slots and this week they are playing at Hamerfest 5.

We managed to chat to the Scott before had to catch up and get him to introduce the band to the fine people of Southport.

WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
Bludvera. Scott - Vocals, Patto - Guitar, Joey - Guitar, Lui - Bass and Baz on drums.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
We've been together for five years and it started as a group of friends getting together writing Thrash Metal. Things got a little bit more serious, people have come and gone and we feel like the lineup at the moment is the strongest it's ever been.

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?
I'd just simply say the quality of the music. Things are getting a bit more complicated and well thought of.

WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
Obviously bands which got us into Metal like Megadeth & Slayer but I'd like to name drop a few bands which have helped shape us; Artillery, Destruction, Voivod, Sodom and Toxik to name a few. The list could go on. Check our page to see more.

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
With our EP release Terrorform it was kind of a semi-concept release with most of the songs relating to; the world, politics, corruption and how the earth is changing for the worst. Hense 'Terrorform' being a play on words meaning the opposite of "Terraform".

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
Me personally (Scott), I'd say 'Voyage Beyond the System'.

Check out their new full EP Here!!!!!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Debonair

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?
Supporting some great bands, selling CDs around the world, playing Bloodstock & Hammerfest and also meeting some great musicians and people along the way.

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
We write more, do better, get more recognition and just keep going. The possibilities are endless.
WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC.
You can check us out on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/bludvera). You can search for some live material/tracks on youtube by typing our name and our website is simply bludvera.com but it's under construction at the moment so be patient.

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
Mediocre. There's lots of great bands but not enough people going out and enjoying live music. People should just go "Oh, I have a fiver and there's nothing to do. I'll go to a gig, see who's there and who knows... maybe something good will happen. If not then.. maybe next time".

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
There needs to be more promotion. We put a show on the other month and got over 100 attendees in a small venue and that's great for Liverpool. People need to stop thinking about money and just promote the hell out of gigs. We need to focus on our own scene before we start doing gigs full of out of town bands. I love to see bands from other cities but at the moment there's lack of opportunities here. Maybe the same bands on the same bills is boring but having a gig once a month and promoting it like crazy might be a good idea. Overall people should just go out and enjoy it more. Support your local Metal bands!

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?
Definitely. Anything which will benefit the local bands. If there's a great turnout that's even better. Thanks.

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
Definitely. People are afraid to push boundaries as in this day and age everything is labelled under a genre. Sometimes mixing things up is a good idea and sometimes it's a band idea. Everything in my opinion is a big gamble. In some genres of Metal there's nothing really you can do to be original (e.g. Thrash Metal). We've had lots and lots of good feedback for our last release but the very few negative feedbacks were not bad at all they just stated that the originality wasn't there but the ideas were. That's why with our next release we're going to take a much bigger risk. If you want to be original, I guess the only way is to come up with something unique (which of course is hard or near impossible in some circumstances) or explore something which wasn't explored enough back in the day and work on that.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Not being able to afford to produce merchandise, record and release things on time. We've missed a lot of great opportunities to sell t-shirts and get our stuff out there and it was all down to not having the money in the exact period of time. Apart from that... members having enough and leaving but right now that's not a problem.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Metallica duh. Nothing to do with the music but imagine how many people you'll play to. Being in a Metal band too, I can't exactly pick Rod Stewart or Bruce Springsteen can I?

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
I'm a fan of both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. The winner is Vader.

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
We're fast, aggressive, fun and we like to have a good time and if you give us a chance, I guarantee you'll have a good time as well. Come check us out at Southport Metal Fest!
- Scott, Vocalist of Bludvera.

Yes. People aren't being original enough, some bands will disappear if theyre not careful...

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Running out of money

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
The Pussycat Dolls

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
Depends... Gandalf grey or white? If grey - Vader. White - Gandalf

Our Imbalance added to Southport Metal Fest 2013

Our imbalance will be joining us in Southport for metal fest 2013, bring breakdowns galore the Liverpool quintet have only been together a short time but have already been a band that demanding to be checked out.
Here's a lyric video shot for The Void which is available for download via media fire

http://www.mediafire.com/?aimm06pc7l6phx7

We caught up with Eric for a bit of a chat about the festival and life in general.....

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?:
We've been together for around about 1 and half years or so. It was an idea of mine to start a metal band, so I started looking for members and found Adam on youtube covering one of my favourite songs at the time and I messaged him, turned out it he lived really close so we got two other dudes, Chris and Cam and had a jam and it just kinda stemmed from there! Then after time went by, a few members left and we're left with our current line up: Me, Adam, Matty, Cavan and Kadeem!

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST? The riffs. WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
My main influences would be just all bands that I aspire to, I first started playing along to songs like Muse, then went to more technical sorta stuff like The Fall Of Troy and then just kinda got more and more into the heavier side of stuff. My main influence would be Garret Rapp though, his voice is absolutely incredible and he just inspires me so much with the way he talks to the crowds he plays to and how he is as a person.

WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
We have quite a diversity in our songs, we have a song about being led to your death by a siren out on a beach, and then one about a man coming home from war to find his wife has been cheating on him. It's pretty cool.

WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
Me personally would be our newest song, M.O.T.H!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Heavy.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?
Just seeing people sing along to our songs and have a great time when we play to me is the best achievement we have had.

WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
Well we're currently writing/recording for our upcoming release which more information will be revealed about that really soon! Just getting stuck into everything as much as we can, gigging/touring the lot. You name it and we'll be doing it!

WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND YOU TO HEAR MORE? FACEBOOK YOUTUBE WEBSITE ETC. We have a debut EP out for free download on our facebook page as well as a single to download for free too! All of our songs are on youtube too!

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
The scene in Liverpool is pretty good!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
More shows and more venues!

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE? They're awesome, I love playing them as well as going to them because you get to see a lot of upcoming and unsigned talent and you also get to support them. Being in a band myself it's great to share support to people who are in the same position as me and who have the same dream as myself!

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
I think that the boundaries of metal are being pushed with every release. There's always something new!

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Failing and not achieving what we set off to do.

IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE?
Me personally would be my favourite band The Color Morale

WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
Gandalf, for sure.

FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
People should come and see us because we're fucking heavy and if you like heavy then you'll like us, we play an amazing show and you won't be disappointed ;)

You can catch Our Imbalance at Southport Metal Fest 25th-26th May 2013

Music festival In Southport? Why?

“Southport Metal Fest” was started in 2012 as a response to a lack of heavy music in the resort. The event started out a few years previously, as club nights which were organised by North West metal band Sa-Da-Ko. The events were generally themed, and regularly drew hundreds of of metal hungry fans to the resort.

Last year the team hosted an all day event to showcase breaking bands from around the North West and received a staggering amount of support from both the fans and bands involved, so much so that we felt the pressure to host a whole weekend of what we feel represents the UK metal scene at the moment.

Southport lies on the coast just 20 miles north of Liverpool and is a traditional Victorian seaside town – but with a contemporary twist. It combines beautiful beaches, family attractions such as theme parks and arcades and the UK’s oldest iron pier a superb choice of restaurants, and a varied range of accommodation from 4-star hotels and boutique guest houses, right to bed and breakfasts and nearby camp-sites. Add to this a vibrant events programme and a great night-life and you’ll never be short of something to do.

This year's event sees a move to a larger establishment at a prime location in the town, close to accommodation and all amenity’s, has gained sponsorship in the form of Roarrock, and with more than 28 bands over 2 days, (25th and 26th of May) This is the best place to see regional unsigned UK metal at its rawest, purest and where it belongs... on the stage!

With more bands still to be announced, be amongst the first to find out what’s happening, share your ideas and suggestions, and be a part of what is truly a festival by the fans, for the fans at http://ukmetal.blogspot.co.uk/

and on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/events/101818216657031/?fref=ts

Head Thirteen - Now with added groove!

Head13 are headed to Southport on the bank holiday to add a hard groove to the proceedings, for fans of early One Minute Silence, Stuck Mojo and Downset. Formed in 2011 this 4 piece are already achieving air play on several radio stations and looking to push their hard grooves even further with the release of their album and booking across the North West.

I've been impressed with bands hard work ethic and commitment to supporting Uk metal, these guys promise a pounding set with knock out blows.

"Head 13 are a metal band from the Northwest of the UK. Hardworking, down-to-earth, realistic and firmly of the belief that megalomaniac world domination is an inevitable conclusion to the year, Head 13 also have a sense of humour, which helps when you take all this music stuff extremely seriously."

Renegade State join Southport Metal Fest Line up

We are pleased to announce that Southport/Liverpool band state are joining the line up in May for Southport Metal Fest.

The lads had a relatively early slot last year and have been going from strength to strength ever since. formed in 2011 the lads have recorded their finest EP and secured slots around the North West.

In their own words:

"Renegade State are a new upcoming metal band that are about to take the metal scene by storm! We plan to smash all your windows and fuck you up in the pit!"
"If we don't see you getting crazy. We'll personally get crazy and fuck you up!"

Liverpool Bloodstock Winners Join Southport Metal fest

When you think of a great metal band you think of wailing guitars, pounding grooves tight musicianship and a great show.

Scare Tactics provide every essence of this and have long been one of Liverpool’s favorite bands allowing them to play various festivals including last year’s Bloodstock festival. Scare tactics intend to bring the groove to Southport Metal Fest,

Here’s how the band describe themselves: “Scare Tactics, a band created from the ashes of 3 of Liverpool's more popular underground metal bands. The union of 4 like minded individuals who play and write music for the sheer love if it.” “The Scare Tactics 'sound' has evolved from rules as written metal to a blend of power, groove and melody.

Influences ranging from Pantera to Alice in Chains creates a blend of metal that is encircles nearly every genre and no genre at the same time.” “Don't be afraid!”

Preston's Deathtrip confirmed for Southport Metal Fest 2013

Deathtrip are one of the best new bands from the Preston, their pounding riffs and aggressive grooves are matched only by Fishers (vocals) stage presence.
After a successful year in 2012 and a release of their 2nd cd towards the end of last year, Deathtrip are coming to Southport with 100% focus and razor sharp set that will leave you begging for more.
These guys absolutely kicked ass the last time they were in Southport and cannot be missed in May. See you in the pit!

In their own words they say:

“Deathtrip are a band that are as handsome as they are muscular. Being immortal super beings, the band were poised to release the greatest metal album in history, however, an unfortunate accident left the only copy of said album destroyed and the band with severe brain damage, resulting in the horrors seen before you today."

"Gaining positive reviews for their intense and unbelievably sexual live performances in 2012, the band are now promoting their first full length album - ruinous -  released at the end of october 2012,
prepare to be ruined!!! (Or something equally witty relating to the band/album title).
