Fear Hate Destroy Added to SMF2013
So, its the 1st of May........and we are still alive wahaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!
Its countdown to the Festival time and as its the 1st of the Month, 1st day of the countdown why not introduce a festival 1st?
Fear Hate Destroy are already making waves on various metal webzines and featured on compilation CD's which for a band that has only been together a few months is pretty damn good going , FHD have been in preparation and will be allowing you guys to see this band live first!!!!!
As usual we caught up with the lads to find out more........
WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR BAND, AND WHAT ARE YOUR NAMES AND JOBS IN THE BAND?
We are Fear Hate Destroy, a 5 piece metal band from preston. We have Joel Ayre on guitar and vocals, Bob Hope on vocals too. On guitars we also have Martin Bragg. On bass duties is Jared Dunne and on drums we've got Adam Kniveton.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER, AND HOW DID YOU START?
We've been together as a full band for a matter of mere months currently. The band started out as a project by Joel which was mainly based around writing in his studio and just leaving the material to one side. That was in 2010. Eventually the time came about to get a band together to get out and start performing some of this material and developing new material too, and this Fear Hate Destroy was born!
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST?
Our general disregard for sticking to a specific genre of metal and our eager willingness to explore into heavier sound with stampeding rhythmic intent, our aggressive but conscious lyrics conveyed in power raps, rhyming, and with death metal vocal dirges.
WHO ARE YOUR MAIN INFLUENCES MUSICALLY?
Fear Factory, Hacktivist, Strapping Young Lad, TesseracT, Meshuggah, Behemoth... Aggressive conscious rap as well as Underground freestyle hiphop.. Loads of stuff!
WHAT ARE YOUR SONGS MOSTLY ABOUT?
We try and base our lyrical content around things that piss us off. This tends to include the 'government' or the 'system'. War, vanity, ignorance, organised religion and overall general oppression of the free thinking mind.
WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN?
We've all got different opinions but the one we managed to settle on is Rise of the Forgotten, a track about social uprising and change within the face of austerity.
IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Nerdy. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENT / GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT AS A BAND SO FAR? Coming together for our first rehearsal after months upon months of trying to find the right lineup. Everything just clicked into place, like clockwork!
WHATS NEXT FOR YOU GUYS?
Having released our debut EP on the 11th April, were writing new material for our next release now. Meanwhile we want to be gigging up and down the UK and showing the scene exactly what were made of!

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR LOCAL SCENE AT THE MOMENT?
The scene in Preston has been declining for years now. However, recently there's been a select few promoters working tirelessly to try and revive it. It's working.. But slowly.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE/ IMPROVE IT?
We need venues and fans to be more enthusiastic as a whole about live music. We need people to open their minds to a bigger umbrella of genres. We need them to get up off the sofa, stop watching TV and go check out some excellent local talent.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON EVENTS LIKE THESE- WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE?
These events are the backbone of the UK unsigned scene. It's events like this that provide UK unsigned talent with the opportunity to showcase themselves to a crowd that they might not normally play to. Which is important! These kind of events are the best way of spurring on local music.
DO YOU THINK THAT THERE IS A LACK OF ORIGINALITY OR A WILLINGNESS TO PUSH BOUNDERYS IN METAL AS A GENRE?
I think it's a bi-polar split. A lot of people are boarding the bandwagon and riding it down until the next trend shift. But thankfully there's also a lot of bands pushing some major boundaries right now. That's what needs to happen. Bands in metal should be constantly trying to hit new extremes and doing things that haven't been done.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST WORRY YOU GUYS FACE AS A BAND?
Not being able to do this for the rest of our life.
IF YOU COULD SUPPORT ANY BAND, WHO WOULD IT BE? Currently, it would be Fear Factory. Out of all the bands we've been compared to they seem to be the most common. And we're all big fans!
WHO WOULD WIN- GANDALF OR DARTH VADER?
We've argued this for hours now, but we've come to a conclusion. It would have to be Darth Vader simply because Gandalf would only let shit go down at the very last minute. By which point middle earth would have probably been death starred anyway!
FINALLY- WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND SEE YOU PLAY?
Well, this is going to be our first gig as a full band. We've been working really hard to make sure it's an awesome show for you guys. We've got a lot of interesting stuff going on in our music and it sounds even better live! We can't wait to show YOU!
